What is JIU JITSU?
Jiu-jitsu aka the gentle art utilizes self-defense grappling techniques to their advantage to subdue or control their opponent. Grappling is a type of ground-fighting style that employs submission holds, throws and sweeps to maintain the upper hand in combat. The gentle art requires dedication and often cultivates not only physical strength but also respect, self-discipline and confidence in all of its practitioners.
Here at Team Monstro, we strive to bring about this self-awareness and assist our students in achieving their goals not only in Jiu-Jitsu but helping them create a meaningful and healthy lifestyle by providing fitness programs and inviting them into our constantly growing family.

Mini Monstros Program
(Ages 3-6)
Monday-Thursday 4:30-5:00pm
Intro to Jiu Jitsu and Physical Education - All levels
Designed for children six and under who have little to no prior knowledge of martial arts or physical education, this class will lay the foundation for your child’s journey into self-defense and teach them the importance of functional fitness as a way of optimizing their lifestyle.
We value respect and responsibility at this academy and this is instilled in our youngest students along with their physical training. This program uses fun and interactive learning to keep your child engaged in their training while refining their understanding of the art form. Watch your child’s growth in physical coordination and flexibility as we help train their dexterity and reap the benefits of the important character traits that are developed as well.

Kids Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a great choice for individual development and personal growth. Strength, self-awareness, respect, discipline, and responsibility are common core values instilled within our kid’s jiu-jitsu program. We strive to teach kids proper self-defense techniques and strategies to help prevent and/or in the right circumstances defend themselves against bullies or harmful assailants.
This program is designed to build a strong foundation in your child’s martial arts path, and improve their coordination, movement, and agility. Students will also receive a comprehensive overview of all positions and techniques in the beginner and fundamental curriculum, as well as an introduction to the more advanced jiu-jitsu concepts.

The fundamentals program is designed to focus on the core techniques that every jiu-jitsu practitioner should know. With this program, students will be able to improve their overall jiu-jitsu knowledge, improve their movement and coordination and receive a complete breakdown of self-defense techniques. Students are given the opportunity to ask questions in order to improve their individual understanding of the techniques and positions. All students are encouraged to participate in this program.

The adult jiu-Jitsu program gives students the opportunity to take their game to the next level through an in-depth look at more intermediate to advanced level jiu-jitsu techniques and instruction. Students will also receive extensive training based on competition scenarios, as well as less common situations that may arise during a match or a fight.

Delve into more advanced/modern jiu-jitsu techniques
Build a more complete and dominating game

NO-GI Grappling

The no-gi program is offered to all levels and will have a mix of fundamental and advanced techniques. Students will have the opportunity to learn modern no-gi jiu-jitsu tactics and learn how to grapple without a gi. Students are required to wear a rashguard/athletic shirts and short/spats/ jiu-jitsu pants.
PROGRAM GOALS:
Improve overall understanding of no-gi jiu jitsu
Improve student’s overall jiu-jitsu knowledge
Delve into more leglock techniques
Build a more complete and dominating game

Open Mat
Fridays & Sundays
Our open mat training is open to all members of any belt rank or age. This allotted time period is designed to allow students to work on specific trouble areas and implement newly learned techniques in a non-instructed format. Many students use open mats as an opportunity to not only roll, but to spar, drill or to analyze techniques to improve their jiu-jitsu game.
Visitors are welcome anytime at our academy!
